American Brunch in Stockholm

What do you do if you are very hungry on a Sunday morning in Stockholm, and have a craving for American pancakes?

Let me give you some advice for if you ever find yourself in this situation; head to Arizona – a popular American pizza bar in Vasastan. If you get there before 11 am then you might be lucky enough to get a table without a booking. If you are a large group then it is wise to make a reservation, because Sunday Brunch at Arizona is popular. Very popular.

With this knowledge in mind, we arrived at 10.45–too early for the opening time of 11 am. We sat on a bench, the sole customers, wondering whether it was really necessary to have arrived so early. At 10.55 the doors opened and we were ushered inside and asked if we had a reservation. Quizzically looking around at all the empty tables, we said no, and were promptly sent to a cramped table in the corner of the restaurant.

Incredibly, by the time we had removed our coats and collected our plates, the restaurant was busy with customers and every table was full.

Sunday brunch at Arizona is served as a buffet. For 174 sek ($26), you can help yourself to copious amounts of bacon, scrambled egg, spicy chorizo, ribs, chicken wings, potatoes, accompanied by a wide range of salads and breads.

With a good selection of juices, smoothies, tea and coffee to wash your food down with, brunch at Arizona is a must for a hungry traveller, and the perfect way to spend a few hours of a Sunday Stockholm morning.

To get to Arizona, take the green line to St. Eriksplan. The restaurant is at Karlbergsvägen 70.
